I see you seek knowledge on how to play OgreFest! Let me help you to get started in the quickest way possible!
It is important that you know few things about your new adventure on OgreFest!
We have established our servers 2 years ago as a passion project, we are still continuing the project with no plans of stopping.
It is most important that you know that we are relatively different from official, because
we have a little higher progression around x4 to x6 and even if there is, this gap of progression between official servers and OgreFest servers, we are not willing to reset any of your progression,
no "wipe" in other words.
The project has another goal, it is to provide the game to the rest of the world, where the game creators were not able to release to, not to mention that we want to create a single server for all regions, thus
we are not limiting to region IP addresses and every single person is welcome!
In order to play on OgreFest, you must follow the steps, if you are lost, please contact our staff and your support shall be granted.
2. Account Creation
Every single user is identified using the forums.
Your forum account is your game account, which you will need to obtain by registering in these forums. There is a button at top right, you can’t miss it! Once you have obtained your membership, you are hereby permitted to continue to the next step.
3. Launcher Installation
You will need to download the installer from here.
All requirements such as VC++ Redistubables and .NET Run-time is included in the installer.
Every launcher update, you will be prompted with a new installer to update the launcher. It is also important that you
do NOT install the launcher in the same directory as the game client (if you have one).
Once you have installed the launcher, you may proceed to the next step!
4. Game Installation
The game installation is fairly simple. All you have to do is open the launcher and authenticate to the server. Please note that the game only supports x64 operating system.
You will be prompted with a selection of where the game client should be installed. It is important to note, that the
game client uses around 29 GB of storage, so you better have a nice and juicy hard drive to store the game client on! The game runs best with an SSD type of storage and x64 operating system. Depending on your internet speed,
it will take about 3 to 10 hours to download the game client.
5. Game Updates
It is important to note that, you will always be up-to-date with our game client version. Sometimes when we release new content, there might be 1 to 5 GB of patches in order to update your game client.
Typically, you might be required to have at least a 30 GB storage to assure that you have enough space for all the updates required and that there would be no in-update issues.
Our game updates are scheduled to be weekly for hot-fixes and monthly for content. It is important to note that, we take our time to deliver quality content and that in-game issues will be addressed daily with the daily restart.
If you have issues launching the game, or issues using the launcher please refer to the following topic.
6. Playing the game
Using our launcher, you can start the game and get into the world.
There are few important things that you need to keep in mind:
Family- represents all of your characters and also stores your achievements such as Quests, storage, horses and other in-game things.
Character- represents a single playable instance, where you will be able to kill other players, gain level and do per-character quests to improve your game-play experience.
Weather- the weather system has been disabled by default due to performance issues. To enable it on your client, type /weather in General (White) chat in-game.
The world of Black Desert Online is quite large and holds a variety of possibilities and best of all, we will try to bring new and new content on monthly schedule.
If you require a different language, you may find downloadable patches here, although not every is supported yet and many more will be added in the future.
Thanks for choosing to play with us, we appreciate it a lot. Every single player is like a family to us. If you have any issue, please, please, please contact one of our staff members to be able to assist you!
Hi everyone, it has been a long time since we have done patch notes, though we will do a beginning of one starting today.
Each patch note is now identified using
Patch X.Y .
X.represents major patch which is usually monthly or bi-weekly.
.Yrepresents minor patch which is usually daily or every few days.
- The forum has now been revamped.
- The launcher has been revamped.
- Hotfix: Fixed an issue that didn’t allow users to authenticate using different casings.

Implemented force-recheckfeature into the launcher to prevent full client downloads.
- Hotfix: Implemented a check that if you have our client or an existing one of v491, you would not need to do a full file-check during
- Hotfix: Fixed an issue that didn’t allow users to authenticate using different casings.
Developer notes: We wanted to do an overhaul on current OgreFest features, to be able to create a better working environment for each user. By revamping the forum, we are now able to submit more quality-wise patch notes and content that we want to release in the future, we also wanted to ease up the process of connecting to our game servers, so we have revamped the launcher and added full file repair support to it. We hope that these changes will reflect the quality and to continue supporting new players entering the game!
We have made a strong overhaul over the current launcher system, so there might be issues using it, I will try to post the solutions to the problems here, that will be fixed in the future patch once we know how to fix it internally.
Q: I am stuck on 99% and the launcher won’t update anything!
It appears that if you have used a torrent client, that has been provided for approximately one month on our old forums, this issue is directly affecting the torrent users.
To fix this issue you must do the following:
- Close any torrent client that is open.
- Right click on your
Black Desert Onlinedirectory
Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)
Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files
OKafter it finished applying the attributes.
- Restart the launcher and you are good to go!
Q: The launcher is downloading 50 GB, but I already have client installed!
In this case, there should have had been a prompt that you have this and that client version. If there was no prompt, it means you have selected the directory incorrectly. If you want to reset the configuration and try selecting the directory again, you are able to do this:
START + R.
- Delete every folder that starts with
- Restart your launcher and you should be able to select the directory once again.
Q: I cannot open
Settings from the launcher!
This feature is still not available in the current launcher, but it will be added fairly soon thus you cannot open it just yet.
Q: How to logout from my account?
If you have used
Remember Me, you can logout by simply restarting your computer. An easier option will be implemented for logging out in the future.
If more issues are found, please post here so I would be able to find the solution for it. Thank you!
Greetings Ogrefest Community!
I am happy to announce, this will be the beginning of a monthly news recap, detailing everything we are working towards. This last month has been hectic. We’ve had some serious growing to do as a team to be able to meet our long-term goals for this project. We had to cut some members of the project who took on the project for the wrong reasons. Now we’re tasked with building our team up. We’re not there yet, but we’ve been working arduously to establish systems and communication for development. All that being said, today we finally are able to share some of our work with you. Let’s jump into it!
He held an impromptu poll to allow the community to decide between two forum mediums for us. We have integrated the new forums with the in-game account login and after the website maintenance we saw earlier today, you are now looking at the results of your votes. Thanks to everyone who voted! These new forums are modern, sleek and will be a great community platform moving forward. We’d love to hear your suggestions on how we could improve it further in the comments
The New Launcher
In addition to the new forum, we have released a new launcher. Here are some of the features it includes:
- Announcement Feed
- Client Repair
- Patch Notes
This should help everyone get in-game much easier with fewer errors along the way! You can download the launcher here
Expanding Our Team
The core of our game plan for OgreFest moving forward will be rooted in assembling a skilled, passionate, and results-oriented team (this is my job). This is no small task, but we firmly believe the project will flourish with the right people all working together behind the scenes. We will be releasing various applications during the month of September, encompassing the variety of personalities we would like to add to our team.
We intend to implement a streamlined community-focused bugtracker in the near future.
- Thumbs Up/Down Feature for players to prioritize what they want fixed first.
- Search Bar to search keywords
- Priority/Type sorting
- Simplified/Streamlined for player contribution
Full Core Rewrite
With this expansion of the team, we have some larger scale projects in the preliminary stages. One of those projects is to actually rewrite the core in a more relevant, stronger language that will sustain over the long term. This is ways off, but we wanted to share what we have going on, and what it means for the community as a whole.
The Core is currently written in Java
- Features that are tangible have been limited for this reason
- It is a bottleneck of sorts to development
We plan to rewrite in C++/Lua
- Allows us to put out more polished features/content faster
- Long-term stability
- Ability to create new features
- Less Latency/Delay
Better Use of Social Platforms
In the coming months, we’ll be giving much more attention to our social media platforms, so make sure to get connected with us here:
We’re really eager to begin this new chapter of open communication and progress with the Ogrefest Community, we hope to see you all in game!
Do i just put <setting name=“GameVersion” serializeAs=“String”><value>2</value></setting> anywhere? :/
Hey I having some issues with the launcher, every time I try to open it an error apears:
@Mikodenai Hello! It seems that you are missing some library that is required for the launcher to function.
Would you mind verifying if you have
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistubable installed for
x64 ? The versions required should be:
2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017.
You can find the redistributable library here.
If you are still having the issue, would you mind installing
OpenSSL libraries from here ?
Please report back, if it works or does not work ! Thanks!
